5 Best Ways to Nourish Yourself at the Beach this Summer

5-Best-Ways-to-Nourish-Yourself-at-the-Beach-this-Summer

Life gets you down, stresses you out, and depletes you. We all need to nourish ourselves from time to time, to replenish our stores of affection, inner peace, and energy. Vacation is a special time to relax, unwind, and nourish yourself.

When you come to Topsail Island, vacation rentals are the way to go! It is so much easier to nourish yourself in your own space - your own vacation home. To help you have the most relaxing and emotionally nourishing vacation possible, we have compiled a list of 5 of the best ways to nourish yourself during your next beach vacation.

eat-fresh

1). Eat Fresh

Have you ever gone on vacation only to come home with bad skin and no energy? Or, even worse, to get sick? No, it's not a bug you picked up (or, not usually, unless you've been to some really tropical destination in Africa or Asia). Instead, it is usually all the sugar and heavy eating. Not that a little indulgence is bad for you at all! But, spoonful of sugar after spoonful of sugar is bound to catch up with you at some point. So, this time, take a refreshing vacation and nourish yourself with good and fresh food that leaves you feeling energized.

the-ocean

2). Enjoy the Ocean

This might come as a surprise, if you think of salt water as drying to your skin (and too much of any kind of water applied topically to your skin is drying, just think about the affects of washing dishes on your hands). However, sea salt is wonderful for your health and your skin, as it naturally and gently (but effectively) pulls toxins from your body, leaving you with that perfect summer glow of a healthy body and healthy skin. So, enjoy the sea air and the sea water, and bask in the natural glow and good health that it brings out in you! But, be mindful that you don't go into the water with any open wounds - the salt will make you most uncomfortable.

be-sun-wise

3). Get Some Sun Wisely

Ah, our love hate relationship with the sun! It can give you a beautiful tan, or burn you. It can bring you health and energy, or give you skin cancer. Just like with many things, if you take in the sun responsibly it will bring you good health, but if you abuse it then the sun will hurt you. So make sure that you stay in the shade during the sun's peak hours of 11 AM to 3 PM, and if you have to go out then be sure to use sun screen. To boost your health, get a little bit of sun in the morning and the evening, letting your skin soak up the beautiful and natural vitamin D, which strengthens your bones and might even help fight off cancer.

hydrate

4). Stay Hydrated

Of course, if you want to feel your best while at the beach as you bask in the salt water and the sunshine, you need to stay hydrated! Without water you will become more and more sick, listless, and even anxious. But with water you will be full of energy, your skin will look better as the creases caused by the stress of daily living smooth out, and your body will continue to further naturally detoxify so that you can come home from vacation rejuvenated. A wonderful and sugar-free way to spice up your water as you try to fill yourself with enough H2O is to put slices of lemon or lime in your water. If you really love a citrus flavor, try squeezing half a lemon, or even a whole one, in your glass of water for a little extra flavor and nourishment.

sleep

5). Get Those Zzz’s

No matter how much you do to nourish yourself on vacation, it will all be for naught if you do not get your sleep! Sleep is the time our body repairs itself from the damage the day has brought to it. It is a time for our minds to process all of the sensory information that they have taken in throughout the day. Vacation is the perfect time to catch up on all the sleep you have been missing!

Take the time during your next vacation to really nourish yourself, so that when you must head back to your daily grind you are rejuvenated. We can’t wait to have you come and stay with us during your next vacation! Remember, there is no time like the present to begin planning your next Topsail Island vacation and to begin nourishing yourself.
