Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital
Few things are as magical as seeing a sea turtle hatchling scurrying towards the ocean. Here on Topsail Island we have the unique privilege of being one of the top breeding grounds for sea turtles. Year after year, as they have done for thousands of years, sea turtles return to our beaches to lay their eggs. Of course, sometimes things don't go as planned and when turtles get in trouble the folks at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital spring into action providing state of the art care. Taking a tour of the facility and finding out about these majestic creatures is the perfect way to spend a rainy day or any day on Topsail Island.
This free museum and park is centrally located on Market St. in Wilmington. The park features interesting exhibits that provide visitors with a unique view into the local land, gardens, and waterways. Exhibits also cover topics like local history, and even includes special educational activities. The hours of the park are dawn to dusk.

Topsail Beach Roller Skating Rink
Get ready to move and groove while rolling the rainy day away at the Topsail Beach Roller Rink. Since 1954 Ms. Doris Jenkins has been the owner-operator of this Topsail Island tradition. Open every night from 7 pm to 10 pm you'll find this is all family, all fun, all the time. Don't worry about the kids. Ms. Jenkins runs a strictly family-friendly atmosphere. All the music is the best of the 50s, 60s, and 70s rock and roll. Skates are available to rent so no need to bring your own. All you need on a rainy evening is the family, some balance, and the desire to have fun.
Resting peacefully on the river across from downtown Wilmington and the famous Wilmington Riverwalk, you'll find the USS North Carolina, a World War II-era battleship. The battleship is also a state memorial for our veterans. During your tour you'll get to learn from the crew all about the distinguished history of the ship. During the year there are various exhibits and events so make sure to check in before you leave to see what excitement awaits you.
The Children's Museum of Wilmington
Located in downtown Wilmington the Children's museum is the perfect place to spend a rainy day. Comprised of three building making up 17,000 square feet of fun the kids won't soon forget. From science to art, there is something for every kid to enjoy. The museum is open Tue-Sat 9am-5pm and Sunday from 1pm-5pm.
Missiles & More Museum
Topsail Island has a lot of unique history. Whether it's their role in the top-secret missile program, named Operation Bumblebee, or battling pirates along the coast. All of this great history is brought together at the Missile and More Museum on Topsail Island.
