7 Things to be Thankful for This Thanksgiving in Topsail

It’s that time of year again! You know what we mean - the holidays are upon us! It is a fabulous time of year, filled with excitement, family, time off, crazy late nights at work, long weekends busy with our kids school activities....and thankfulness. That's right. This crazy time of year is also the perfect time for counting, and appreciating, your blessings.

This year instead of approaching the holiday season with anxiety over all the prep work you might have ahead of you, take a vacation! That's right. Vacation with us. Take time to be thankful this Thanksgiving season. Leave your cares and worries at home and just indulge this holiday season. And while you are indulging here in Topsail with us this holiday season, here are 7 things to be thankful for.

1). A Vacation Family

A vacation is definitely something to be thankful for, don't you think? A time to let go of your numerous daily cares. To reconnect with your loved ones. Your family.

2). Your Family

Your family is definitely something to be thankful for. People who love you through thick and thin. Who are your biggest cheerleaders and the shoulders you need to cry on. And as the holidays roll around, the time of fires and cozy get-togethers, it is easier than ever to be thankful for your family.

3). Your Job

It is your job that lets you live in a warm, lovely house, drive a nice car, and even go on vacation. The same job that drives you crazy, has you on the phone after hours at home, bringing you grey hairs before your time, is what provides for your family and let's you get out of the city (or suburbs) and enjoy nature and the beach!

4). SunshineSunshine

Sunshine can be all too rare in the upcoming winter. But during these beautiful, fleeting autumn days you get to enjoy the perfect concoction of cool weather, crisp blue skies, and not-too-warm sunshine. So soak up those rays! And don't hold back the smile they bring to your face.

5). The Beach

Most people don't realize it, but fall is the perfect time to indulge in the beach. It is after the rush of summer but is also still warm enough for you to enjoy walking barefoot in the sand. So soak up the sound of the waves, the feel of the cool sand beneath your bare feet, and savor the beach.

6). Nature

Have you stopped recently to listen to the birds chorusing in the morning? To watch the wind dancing through the trees? Or to take in a sunset? Take time today - this month - to be thankful for even the smallest beauties of nature. If you look closely you will see that each day is a miracle.

7). The Freedoms of Our Country Freedom

If you are born and raised here, in this beautiful and free country, it is easy to take all the blessings of this country for granted. Clean water that you can drink, right out of the tap. Electricity. Cell phone services. Affordable, beautiful housing. (Your house suddenly feels affordable and incredibly luxurious if you view the corrugated tin huts that most 3rd world city dwellers live in.) Take time this vacation to relish the freedoms you were born to. To be thankful for this beautiful country that has more freedoms than any other in the world.

It is time to take a vacation. To savor your family. Soak up the sun. Listen to the waves. And to recognize the freedoms of our beautiful country. Indulge in a vacation this holiday season. It will be the best gift you give to yourself this year.
